But I really want to get better at it, I think it helps my clients get to "know" me, before ever meeting me! I know how important this can be! I also think there are so many out there looking to learn, and it's how I learned, so why not give back!
My goal is to do a client based blog at the beginning of the week, and then a fun fact or learning blog towards the end of the week! I would LOVE to hear from my followers, send me questions, or things you would like to learn, I would love to speak directly to my audience!
So, if you have a burning question, about me personally, about my business, my equipment, anything photography related, please email me at: info@imaniphotog.com.
For today, I'm sharing what's in my bag!!!

When I meet you for a shoot (or you arrive at my studio), I have specific equipment that I love and that I think creates beautiful images. I am a minimalist at heart, so I try to keep it to a few good lenses and my trusty Camey (my camera's name!).
My camera is a Nikon D700. I absolutely love it's low light capabilities, among many things!
My favorite lenses:
Sigma 70-200mm 2.8
Sigma 35mm 1.4
Nikon 50mm 1.8
Each of these lenses I like for different reasons. On any given shoot you will find me with all of these most of the time, except for newborns, I only use the 35mm for my newborn shoots.
Weddings are a whole different ball game, I'll save that for another post!
The reason I like my 70-200, it has a low aperture throughout, meaning, I can zoom to 200 and still be at f2.8! Which means it has great low light capabilities, and you get that beautiful creamy bokeh (sharp in focus subject, with blurry background). For portraits I use this one a lot, the added benefit is that at about 85mm it creates the most pleasing effect for a real life capture of your portrait, it is the closest to what we see with our eyes. Whereas my 35mm will distort a little.

I love my 35mm!! It also has great low light capabilities with the f1.4. It is tack sharp and has great bokeh as well! The downside to using it for portraits...it can distort. So whatever is closest to me looks bigger than it should. If you have had your portraits taken by me recently, you may have had me tell you to lean into me, this helps to counter balance that distortion! I promise I don't try to make
you feel weird without a purpose!! lol!!
The other reason I love this lens is that it is a wide angle lens. Meaning, I can get a lot more in the shot with this lens! It also allows me to be closer to the subject, while still getting what I need, which is perfect for newborn shoots. I try not to get far away from babies at all, this way, if baby moves at all I am right there! If I am back at all, there is always a parent or someone very very close by...safety first!!

The Nikon 50mm will always be a favorite! It was my first lens that wasn't a kit lens. I learned so much on this lens!! It's a really great starter lens for those looking to get into photography. It has low light capabilities, and is very sharp. It will probably always remain in my bag! Its my trusty 50!!

I hope you enjoyed getting a glimpse into my bag!!
Don't forget to email me any questions, and I may just feature it on the blog next week!!
